視覚や見るということを主なテーマとして作品を制作しています。

版画の技法であるスクリーンプリントの技法を用いて、鑑賞者の意識や動きによって作品の見え方や色彩が変わってくるような作品を多く制作しています。

私が制作を続ける理由には私は何を見ているのか？という捉え難い疑問が自分の根底に存在しているからです。

見るという行為に関して、私達がある対象を見たその時点でその対象は解釈されたかたちでそれぞれの人の中に存在し続けます。日々凄まじいスピードによってそれらは私たちの中に数多く取り入れられ、複雑に作用し合って変化したり忘れ去られたり、また大切に保管されたりしてして私達は日常を過ごしています。そんな日常を過ごしている中で、自分と対峙しているその対象物をはっきり捉えているようにみえているけれど、その存在の曖昧さが何故か浮き彫りになるような感覚に陥りました。この見えているものと存在のズレは何なのか？今思えばこのような日常の体験が冒頭の「私は何を見ているのか？」という制作の根幹につながっているようにも感じています。

見るという一連の行為は自分や他人を含めた「その人」のためにあります。これは誰にも介入できないその人にとって特別なものだと感じています。当たり前でありながらとても不思議で特別なこの「見る」ということについて少しでも近づきとらえたいという気持ちがあるため制作を続けています。

I create works with the main theme of vision and seeing.

Using the screen printing technique, which is a printmaking technique, I create many works in which the viewer's consciousness and movements change the way the work looks and its colors.

The reason I continue to create art is because there is an elusive question at the core of my being: “What am I seeing?”

Regarding the act of seeing, the moment we perceive an object, it exists within each of us in an interpreted form. Every day, these perceptions are rapidly absorbed into us, interacting complexly, changing, being forgotten, or carefully preserved as we go about our daily lives. In the midst of such daily life, I found myself in a state where, despite seemingly clearly grasping the object I was confronting, the ambiguity of its existence somehow became glaringly apparent. What is the discrepancy between what I see and its existence? Looking back, I feel that such everyday experiences are connected to the core of my work, which begins with the question, “What am I seeing?”

The act of seeing is for “that person,” including oneself and others. I feel that this is something special and unique to that person, something no one else can interfere with. It is both ordinary and yet mysterious and special, and I continue to create because I want to get closer to understanding this act of seeing.
