今回の作品は、私の研究テーマである「素材と表現の関係」を深く考える中で生まれた、初めての完成シリーズです。

日本画の伝統的な画材である岩絵具を使いながらも、現代的な視点から抽象的な表現に挑戦しました。過去と現在、伝統と新しさのあいだで揺れながら、その可能性を探っています。

10種類の岩絵具を使い、同じ色でも粒子の大きさ（番手）の違いによって生まれる質感や色合いの変化に注目しました。幾何学的なかたちを重ねることで、岩絵具ならではの色の濃淡や質感を際立たせ、素材そのものの存在を強く印象づけています。

この作品を通して、「素材とは何か」「表現の自由とは何か」という問いに改めて向き合うことができました。

これからも素材の可能性を広げながら、自分なりの視点で“新しい日本画”のかたちを探していきたいと考えています。

This work is the first completed series born out of my research theme, “The Relationship Between Material and Expression.” While using mineral pigments—traditional materials in Nihonga—I explored abstract expression from a contemporary perspective. Positioned between past and present, tradition and innovation, this work searches for new possibilities in Japanese painting.

Using ten different types of mineral pigments, I focused on how differences in particle size can produce varying textures and depths, even within the same hue. By layering geometric forms, I highlighted the tonal gradations and tactile qualities unique to mineral pigments, emphasizing their presence as raw materials. Through this process, I revisited fundamental questions such as “What is material?” and “What does freedom of expression mean in painting?”

Moving forward, I hope to continue exploring the possibilities of materials and seek a new form of Japanese painting through my own perspective.
