アーティスト・写真家
京都生まれ。ロンドン・ミドルセックス大学大学院 インタラクティブ・デザイン＆メディア学科修了。Master of Arts（文学修士）取得。公益社団法人 日本写真家協会会員。 2005年に初の個展を開催し、2025年には活動20周年を迎える。
2024年9月には、ニューヨーク・ブルックリンのTHE IW GALLERYにて、キュレーターにVida Sabbaghiを迎えた個展を1ヶ月以上にわたり開催。 写真を起点に、立体・映像・インスタレーションなど多様なメディアを横断しながら、現代における「見ること」の本質を探る作品を展開する。風景と記憶、個人と社会、コロナ渦に人と人の間に設置されたアクリル板のような防護壁に互いの言霊が帯びた透明なバリアのような、写真という平面メディアの拡張を試みる。母が彫刻家である影響から、近年はスタイロフォームなどの軽量素材を用いた立体表現にも注力。空間全体を巻き込むような構成力と写真と彫刻のあいだに浮かび上がる「立体像」や人の内面に潜む感情や環境の揺らぎを視覚化することを目指している。
「Module Core」

この立体作品は、軽量で無機質なスタイロフォームを用いながら、黒一色の断片を組み上げ、人の気配を宿す姿をかたちづくったものである。
存在と不在のあいだをゆらぎながら、記憶の残像としてそこに立つ。
この作品は、記憶と崩壊、環境破壊、そして再構築の美学をまといながら、
空間に沈黙の問いを立ち上げる。かたちの隙間にこそ、想像の余白は広がっている。
この作品は、展覧会のたびに組み直され、形を変えることができる可変型の立体作品である。構造そのものに“固定されない存在”のコンセプトを与え、展示空間との対話性や、毎回異なる「かたち」へと変容していく彫刻の生態系を提示する。
彫刻でありながらインスタレーションであり、インスタレーションでありながら集合的写真の記憶も孕む――「変化し続ける像」の体現である。
This sculptural work is composed of black fragments of lightweight, inorganic styrofoam,
assembled into a form that evokes the presence of a human figure.
It wavers between presence and absence, standing as a residual trace of memory.
Clothed in the aesthetics of memory, collapse, environmental destruction, and reconstruction,
the work raises a silent question into the space.
It is within the gaps between forms that the viewer’s imagination finds room to expand.
This is a variable sculpture—reassembled and reshaped with each exhibition.
Its very structure embodies the concept of an “unfixed existence,”
offering a dialogue with each space it inhabits, and presenting a living sculptural ecology that transforms with every showing.
It is sculpture, yet installation.
Installation, yet imbued with the memory of collective photography.
An embodiment of a form in constant transformation.
「鉱石再構成｜Fragmented Core」

鉱石を撮り、BIGBANGのように配置した。数日見つめて展覧会発表二日前に切り刻んでしまった。その後は再び結晶のように組み直す作業。乾かしながら３枚１組で組んでは乾かしを繰り返した。
静止していた時間が、鋭いかけらとなって爆ぜる。自然がつくったかたちを、人の手でもう一度、視覚の彫刻へと変える。ひとつひとつの断片は個を保ち、全体は調和と混沌のあいだに揺れている。その裂け目に、美しさが生まれた。写真というメディアの輪郭を押し広げ、
「イメージの彫刻化」という新しい地平を試みたい
Fragmented Core
I photographed a mineral—and arranged it like a Big Bang.
I stared at it for days, then, just two days before the exhibition, I cut it apart.
What followed was the act of rebuilding—like reforming a crystal from its fragments.
In sets of three, I arranged and dried, arranged and dried again.
Time, once still, exploded into sharp, glittering shards. A form shaped by nature, now reimagined by human hands—transformed into a sculpture of sight.
Each fragment holds its own identity, yet the whole trembles between harmony and chaos.
In that fracture, beauty emerged.
This work stretches the very edge of photography,
carving out a new frontier:
the sculpting of the image itself.

Jinn Yagi | Artist & Photographer
Born in Kyoto, Jinn Yagi holds a Master of Arts degree from Middlesex University in London, where he completed postgraduate studies in Interactive Design & Media. He is a member of the Japan Photographers Association. Since holding his first solo exhibition in 2005, he will mark the 20th anniversary of his artistic career in 2025.
In September 2024, he held a solo exhibition for over a month at THE IW GALLERY in Brooklyn, New York, curated by Vida Sabbaghi.
Yagi’s practice begins with photography and extends across sculpture, video, and installation, as he continues to question the fundamental nature of “seeing” in contemporary life. His work explores the boundaries between landscape and memory, the individual and society, and especially the invisible yet emotionally charged barriers—like the acrylic partitions placed between people during the COVID-19 pandemic—that symbolize the unspoken weight of language and presence. Through such inquiries, he seeks to expand the boundaries of photography as a traditionally two-dimensional medium.
Influenced by his mother, a sculptor, Yagi has in recent years focused on three-dimensional forms using lightweight materials such as Styrofoam. His works are characterized by spatial dynamism and a sensitivity to the subtle “figures” that emerge between photography and sculpture. Through these forms, he aims to visualize the fragility of human emotion and the shifting nature of our environments.
