Smaller works are created using the ceramic lacquer technique, which involves applying lacquer onto fired pottery.

While her works are inspired by ancient dry lacquer methods—such as those seen in the famous Ashura statues of Kōfuku-ji—she combines materials traditionally used in lacquer arts with modern materials to develop a unique approach.

Given the extensive time required for each piece, her large sculptures are unveiled at the pace of approximately one every few years.
