PROFILE

Rinoi Imada is an interdisciplinary artist whose ideas are inspired by glass, using it not only as a material but also as a tool for thought and a vessel for holding moments. Her practice engages with sculptural relationships with glass and glass-related processes to explore languages and experiences that are easily dismissed, ignored, or unseen in everyday life.

An early adulthood stay in the United States—where daily shifts between languages heightened her awareness of choosing the “right” words—left a subtle disruption in her sense of self and became the foundation for her pursuit of making the unseen visible. She sees glass, with its ability to retain form while transmitting light, as an ideal medium for capturing and conveying fragile, shifting sensations. Through its physical and symbolic qualities, she gathers delicate changes and unconscious presences, creating works that quietly facilitate dialogue between self and others.
